Brightline: pets on the train
This page shows what Brightline itself publishes about dogs and cats on its trains. Rules can change; the operator's page is authoritative.
Where the pet travels
In a closed carrier, under the seat or on your lap; in all areas past security (including lounges and onboard the train) the pet must stay securely inside a carrier or crate. In the lobby and around the exterior of the stations dogs and cats must be leashed at all times; a pet relief area is available outside the West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale stations.
Carrier
A closed, approved carrier (hard or soft sided, leak proof); under the seat or on your lap the carrier may not exceed 17" × 10" × 10". With a carrier you may bring 1 personal item but no carry-on bag in addition. Brightline does not rent carriers; a limited quantity may be available for purchase for a fee.
Weight
According to the page “Dog-Friendly Parks and Patios Near Brightline Florida Stations” (gobrightline.com): “Pups under 25 pounds ride in style in a comfy carrier” — dogs under 25 lbs (about 11.3 kg) ride in a carrier. The terms of service do not state a weight limit.
Which animals
Dogs and cats only.
Fee
USD 10 within and between Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach; USD 45 between Orlando and all other destinations (SMART Saver and SMART PREMIUM the same) — per the fee table in the terms of service. Whether the amount applies per pet, per trip or per reservation is not stated: UNEVIDENCED.

Booking and notice
The pet must be added to the reservation passenger details at least 10 minutes before departure; otherwise boarding may be refused. Staff may ask whether the pet has been added.
Where it applies
Whether the rules also apply on the operator's other routes (the site lists “Brightline West” next to the Florida destinations) is UNEVIDENCED; “only within Florida” is not claimed.
Also good to know
Minimum age eight weeks; the pet must be odorless, harmless, not disruptive and require no attention during travel. No transport as checked baggage: the pet travels with a guest, who is responsible for its care and supervision. Brightline may refuse or remove disruptive or aggressive pets. Service animals are accepted at no charge and require advance notice.
