Pet entry requirements: Dog → Gibraltar
These are the requirements for entering Gibraltar with a dog, based on a departure from Germany/the EU. Requirements can change — always confirm with the relevant authority before you travel.
🔴 Required
Microchip Required
Microchip required (animal must be identifiable by microchip). The page names no ISO standard.
Rabies vaccination Required
Rabies vaccination after microchipping, even if an earlier vaccination is current; at least 21 days before entering Gibraltar (inactivated vaccine, at least one antigenic unit per dose, WHO standard). Applies to pet cats, dogs and ferrets.
Health certificate Required
Must be accompanied by a Pet Passport issued by a veterinarian authorised by the competent authority certifying valid rabies vaccination. For pets from the UK a health certificate detailing up-to-date vaccinations suffices. Origin in an EU member state is covered only by the page's introduction (movement between Member States).
⚠️ Notes & grey zone
Notes
The regulator sets its own law (Animals and Birds Rules 2004) which implements EU Regulation 576/2013; the reference is EU law, not UK law (UK appears only as an origin with a health certificate). The page treats cats, dogs and ferrets together, so the rules also apply to cats. For animals under 3 months the page mentions special provisions without content (contact the Agency). Non-pet animals need an import licence (pet dog/cat from DE: page names no licence).
