What New York State requires when a dog arrives — whoever you are arriving from. These rules hang off the arrival, not the trip type: a flight from Frankfurt and a flight from Los Angeles are treated the same here. Requirements can change — always confirm with the authority before you travel.
These requirements come on top of the country's — they can only tighten or add, never loosen.
New York additionally requires a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) or health certificate issued no more than 30 days before entry. The rabies vaccine product name and date of vaccination must be recorded on it.
⚠️ The EU pet passport does not replace this certificate — New York states explicitly: "We do not accept the Pet Passport."
Destination inside New York City (JFK, LGA): the regulations of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene apply on top. We have not captured this city level.
