Pet entry requirements: Dog → Australia
These are the requirements for entering Australia with a dog, based on a departure from Germany/the EU. Requirements can change — always confirm with the relevant authority before you travel.

Import permit Required
Import permit via BICON required before export; valid until the RNATT expires (12 months from blood sampling).
Microchip Required
ISO-compliant microchip required (10 or 15 digits); number must appear on all documents.
Rabies vaccination Required
Rabies vaccination required, continuously valid from the RNATT to export; vaccinated at 84 days of age or older (origin Germany = Group 3).
Rabies titer test Required
RNATT (FAVN or RFFIT) required, result at least 0.5 IU/ml; valid 12 months; 180-day wait from sample arrival at laboratory.
Other tests Required
Leptospira Canicola (vaccination OR MAT test within 45 days), Leishmania infantum (IFAT/ELISA within 45 days), Brucella canis (intact dogs only, within 45 days).
Parasite treatment Required
External parasite treatment starting at least 30 days before export; internal (nematodes and cestodes) twice within 45 days, 14 days apart, second within 5 days before export.
Health certificate Required
Veterinary health certificate (original, wet-ink stamp) must travel with the dog; examination and endorsement within 5 days before export (single source, so not captured as number field).
Official endorsement of the health certificate Required
Endorsement by an official government veterinarian of the competent authority in the country of export.
Quarantine Required
Post-entry quarantine at Mickleham: at least 30 days; 10 days only if identity was verified by the competent authority before the RNATT.
Breed restrictions Prohibited
Banned breeds: dogo Argentino, fila Brasileiro, Japanese tosa, American pit bull terrier/pit bull terrier, Presa Canario and hybrids (e.g. Czechoslovakian wolfdog, Saarloos, Lupo Italiano, Kunming).
