Cunard Queen Mary 2: pets on board
Dogs and cats can sail on Cunard Queen Mary 2 only in the on-board kennels — not in the stateroom. This page shows what the operator itself publishes; rules can change, the operator's page is authoritative.
Where the pet travels
Only in the on-board kennels and their dedicated deck space (the Kennel Master can feed and walk your pet on request); not in the stateroom. Exception: assistance dogs.
In the stateroom?
No – pets are only permitted in the kennels and their dedicated deck space (assistance dogs excepted).
Kennels and size classes
Yes – up to 24 pets per sailing. Upper kennels for pets of 25 lbs (about 11.3 kg) or less, lower kennels for 25.1 lbs or more; Cunard confirms the maximum length and height and the charges on request.
Which animals
Dogs and cats only.
Breed restrictions
Dogs prohibited under the UK Pet Travel Scheme are not permitted on board; according to Cunard these currently include: XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and any mixed-breed dog that includes these breeds. Not all larger breeds can be accommodated because of their size.
Fee
USD 2,500 per kennel, per voyage, payable in addition to the passenger fare and regardless of voyage duration or destination (applies to kennel bookings made on or after 18 May 2026). Non-refundable deposit USD 250 at booking; the balance is due on the same date as the voyage balance, ordinarily 120 days before departure. Whether a pet in two kennels pays twice is not stated in the source: UNEVIDENCED.

Booking and lead time
A kennel can only be reserved with an eligible guest booking, by phone or e-mail with Cunard; availability is subject to capacity and confirmation. Cunard contacts you with the necessary paperwork at least five months before sailing; the balance is ordinarily due 120 days before departure.
Where it applies
Only on Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic Crossings to or from Southampton, New York or Hamburg.
Documents
No veterinary services on board. Each pet is issued its own lifejacket on boarding. A pet passport is required; an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) in lieu of a passport is also accepted. If your trip includes a flight, the airline's own pet policy applies as well.
