These are the requirements for entering Italy with a dog, based on a departure from Germany/the EU. Requirements can change — always confirm with the relevant authority before you travel.

Microchip required (ISO-conform per Art. 70a of Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/2035); a clearly readable tattoo applied before 3 July 2011 is also accepted. Italian Ministry: identification by microchip (transponder).

Yes – primary vaccination ≥21 days prior
Minimum age / young animals Required
Italy does not use the derogation for young animals: dogs aged under 12 weeks (unvaccinated) and those aged 12-16 weeks whose rabies vaccination is not yet valid (21 days after primary vaccination) may not be brought in.
