Pet entry requirements: Cat → New Caledonia

These are the requirements for entering New Caledonia with a cat, based on a departure from Germany/the EU. Requirements can change — always confirm with the relevant authority before you travel.

🔖

Microchip Required

Identification by electronic microchip (copy of the ID card to be submitted); the chip must be implanted BEFORE the rabies vaccination. The 2018 version still allowed a tattoo; the current (2023) version names only the microchip.

🧪

Other tests Required

Required: valid vaccination against cat flu (calicivirus, viral rhinotracheitis), feline panleukopenia and chlamydiosis; any booster must be given more than 14 days before departure.

🪱

Parasite treatment Required

Two treatments against internal parasites (nematodes and cestodes), at least 15 days apart, the first within 45 days and the second within 7 days before departure; long-acting treatment against external parasites (fleas and ticks) at least 21 days before departure, renewed without a gap. All treatments by a veterinarian.

📄

Health certificate Required

Veterinary certificate (model I.Ct.FR.04/23) after a veterinary examination within 7 days before departure; the original travels with the animal, a copy is e-mailed to SIVAP beforehand. Issue-window number stays NULL (one domain). The model is worded for origin France, see grey_zone.

🏛️

Official endorsement of the health certificate Required

The certificate issued by an authorised veterinarian must be countersigned by an official veterinarian.

🏥

Quarantine Required

Isolation in the public animal quarantine (Païta): minimum 10 days from arrival, duration depends on flight schedules; no visits. Number in text only (one domain).

⚠️ Notes & grey zone

⚠️

Grey zone

Germany is listed in Annex II (negligible risk), but certificate model I.Ct.FR.04/23 attests residence 'en France'; a German model is not evidenced. Annex II still refers to the old certificate I.Ct.PRN.02/17. Confirm the exact procedure for origin DE with SIVAP.

ℹ️

Notes

Cats travel as cargo in a sealed transport crate per IATA recommendations. Additionally mandatory vaccinations against cat flu (calicivirus, rhinotracheitis), panleukopenia and chlamydiosis, booster more than 14 days before departure. Brachycephalic breeds (Burmese, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan, Persian) should check with the airline beforehand.
